Class One (1) Advanced Professional Development
This four (4) week program was developed for the student that wants more than to just have a Class 1 license. This Development program is the total package.
We start you out with sixteen (16) hours of in-depth classroom, covering important topics that will assist the student in obtaining their class one learners. The second (16) hour portion of your classroom, the instructor will be covering such topics as tire chains, log books, border crossings, weights, loading and securing techniques as well as extreme driving and many other important topics that will help you to avoid unnecessary delays and possible fines. This is a very inter- active class and will have a homework portion that you are expected to complete. Once you have completed this portion of your training it’s off to the trucks. This is where the real fun begins. Yes it is serious but you have to love the feel of the truck with you in total control.
Your training truck has a 13 or 18-speed road ranger style transmission, and will be attached to a flat deck trailer and or a super B train. We start building on your new confidence with city driving in real life situations. We all know the challenges of driving in a major city, and your training as a Professional gives you the edge. You and your certified instructor will be working on your over-all shifting, observation and general in town driving skills. With each lesson, your skills become second nature as the pace of your training increases to meet your needs. The length of time of your lessons will grow to the point that, we send you off for your first of three eight (8) hour highway trips to more challenging terrain and weather conditions. You and your instructor will be working on your up and down shifting on hills as well as many miles of world famous BC twisting highways.
You will be visiting some real loading docks where the challenge of backing in becomes all too real. During these trips you will be expected to correctly fill out your driver’s logbook and will be visiting government weigh scales. These highway trips will hone your skills and challenge your abilities and because you are with your certified instructor you will be at ease knowing we would never put you in a situation beyond your skills and abilities. If you need some extra time spent on problem areas your instructor will be more then happy to work with you.
