Class One (1) Professional Driver Development Course
This Three (3) week program was developed for the student that wants more than to just have a Class 1 license. This Development program is for the student that wants the basics from the classroom along with our extensive driving program.
We start you out with sixteen (16) hours of classroom review covering the class one learners license, the other 16 hours classroom you will cover topics such as tire chains, log books, border crossings, weights, loading techniques as well as extreme driving and many other important topics that will help you to avoid unnecessary delays and possible fines. This is a very inter- active class and will have a homework portion that you are expected to complete. There will be a multiple-choice exam at the completion of the classroom program.
Once you have completed this portion of your training it’s off to the trucks............ This is where the real fun begins. Yes it is serious but you have to love the feel of the truck with you in total control........
We believe that keeping it simple to start is the fastest way to develop your driving confidence. With clear and concise instruction and patience to progress at “Your” pace, we move along until you and your certified instructor are confident in your abilities to pass your road test at the motor vehicle branch. The average student will complete this portion of their training in approximately 28 hours of training time. Once the student has completed and passed the road test we start on the second phase of your new career.
Your training truck has a 13 or 18-speed road ranger style transmission, and will be attached to a flat deck or a super B train. We start building on your new confidence with city driving in real life situations. We all know the challenges of driving in a major city, and your training as a Professional gives you the edge. You and your certified instructor will be working on your over-all shifting, observation and general in town driving skills. With each lesson, your skills become second nature as the pace of your training increases to meet your needs. The length of time of your lessons will grow to the point that, we send you off for your first of three eight (8) hour highway trips to more challenging terrain and weather conditions. You and your instructor will be working on your up and down shifting on hills as well as many miles of world famous BC twisting highways.
During these trips you will be expected to correctly fill out your driver’s logbook and will be visiting government weigh scales. These highway trips will hone your skills and challenge your abilities and because you are with your certified instructor you will be at ease knowing we would never put you in a situation beyond your capability. If you need some extra time spent on problem areas your instructor will be more then happy to work with you.
