Licensing

Taylor Professional Driving provides a number of courses that are taught by instructors licensed under the motor vehicle act of BC.

 

Class 1

Semi-trailer trucks, buses and logging trucks and all types of motor vehicles and combinations of vehicles except motorcycles.

  • Advanced Driver Program
  • Development Driver Program
  • Basic Driver Program
  • Introduction to log hauling and lowbedding
  • Advanced log hauling and lowbedding

Note: ICBC written Air Brake Test must be passed before the road test or within 30 days of completing the Air Brake course, whichever comes first. If a student fails the written exam three times the air brake course must be repeated at student cost.


Class 2

Buses, including school buses, special activity buses and special vehicles. Trailers or towed vehicles may not exceed 4,600 kilograms except if the bus and trailer or towed vehicle do not have air brakes. Any motor vehicle or combination of vehicles in Class 4.


Class Three

Tandem/Tridem Axle Trucks: trucks with more than two axles, such as dump trucks and large tow trucks, but not buses used to transport passengers.


Class Four

Unrestricted: Vehicles in Class 5, plus buses up to a maximum of 25 person capacity.

Restricted: Ambulances, taxis and limousines, and special vehicles used to transport people with disabilities, up to a maximum 10 person capacity.

Heavy 20 Endorsement (heavy utility trailer): Any combination of vehicles in Class 5 and trailers or towed vehicles exceeding 4,600 kilograms, provided neither truck nor trailer has air brakes. With the Heavy 20 endorsement, the licenser is permitted to tow a heavy utility trailer and a recreational trailer, provided neither truck nor trailer has air brakes.

Code 51 Endorsement (recreational trailer): Any combination of vehicles in Class 5 and recreational trailers exceeding 4,600 kilograms, provided neither truck nor trailer has air brakes.

Note: For Class Four programs, you must provide a properly certified vehicle and trailer (trailers must be loaded to 4,600 kg or more)
